Project Overview

Flux Barrier are constructed of precast concrete with steel reinforcement. Each unit measures 1000mm long, 864mm tall, and 457mm wide at the base. Two connecting pin hinge bars are integrally cast in, and continuous through each segment. Each bar was bent to offset by approximately 25mm such that the upstream bar ends nested between the downstream ends on the adjacent segment. Barriers segments are connected to one another with a 32mm x 635mm steel hinge pin. No bolts, pins, or adhesives are utilized to secure the barrier to road base.

MASH TL-3 Standards

A 1100kg small car impacting the CIP and LON of the barrier at a nominal speed and angle of 100km/hr and 25 degrees, respectively. This test investigates a barrier’s ability to successfully contain and redirect small cars. The Flux barrier performed acceptably for MASH TL-3 longitudinal barriers.

  • Speed: 100 km/hr
  • Angle: 25 Degrees
  • Vehicle Weight: 1100 kg
  • Result: Pass

A 2270kg pickup truck impacting the CIP and LON of the barrier at a nominal speed and angle of 100km/hr and 25 degrees, respectively. This test investigates a barrier’s ability to successfully contain and redirect light trucks and sport utility vehicles. The Flux barrier performed acceptably for MASH TL-3 longitudinal barriers.
